Distinctive Grain
Pacific Northwest barley and rye varieties selected for agricultural character, texture, and flavor.
PATRICIA GREEN / AN OREGON BEGINNING
A winery, an altered vintage, and the cellar instinct to see possibility where the expected path disappeared.
THE FIRST LANGUAGE
At Patricia Green Cellars, the work has always begun with what Oregon gives. The approach is patient, site-driven, and comfortable with variation—the same instincts that would later shape the whiskey.
THE TURNING POINT
Wildfire smoke changed the fruit’s path through the cellar. Wine became brandy. Brandy found whiskey casks. An Oregon whiskey story began without abandoning the instincts that shaped the wine.
Wine taught us to listen.
Whiskey taught us to wait.
THE NEXT CHAPTER
The grain was distilled near Forest Grove, fourteen miles from Patricia Green Cellars. In 2022, members of the winery team joined distiller Lynsee Sardell in purchasing the distillery—turning an answer to one difficult vintage into a lasting Oregon whiskey project.
GRAIN WITH A STORY
Full Pint was developed at Oregon State. Purple Karma was revived by the Oregon State Barley Project. Francin brings Czech brewing heritage, Gazelle contributes resilient rye character, and Lightning emerged from new climate-minded barley research.
These are not interchangeable ingredients. Each one determines the recipe, texture, and direction of its whiskey.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Pacific Northwest barley and rye varieties selected for agricultural character, texture, and flavor.
Triple-distilled Pinot Noir brandy forms 10% to 20% of every current expression.
Repurposed French wine barrels—and Oregon oak in select releases—bring structure, spice, and depth.
Small releases shaped by patience, instinct, and the character of each barrel.
OUR PROCESS
Pinot Noir brandy is built directly into every current recipe, not added as a finishing touch. Its proportion changes with the grain.
Former French oak wine barrels are renewed, re-toasted, and charred for whiskey; select releases also mature in Oregon oak. Together they connect every bottle back to the winery.
